The Second Scottish PDE Colloquium

 15 - 16 May 2014

ICMS, 15 South College Street Edinburgh

  • Jozsef Farkas, University of Stirling
  • Mariya Ptashnyk, University of Dundee

About:

Partial differential equations (PDEs) provide a conceptual framework for studying a vast spectrum of problems arising in the natural and physical sciences. Therefore, not surprisingly, they are a central feature in the work of many mathematicians, both pure and applied. The meeting featured plenary talks from Gianni Dal Maso (SISSA) and Glenn F Webb (Vanderbilt University).

Aims:

  • Bring together junior and senior researchers in PDEs from across Scotland

  • Provide a platform for early career researchers to exhibit their recent work and research interests

  • To build connections and germinate potential collaborations between researchers working with PDEs across Scotland

  • To create an opportunity to discuss in an informal setting with internationally renowned researchers

  • To enable PhD students to present their work in progress in an informal setting
