New administrative staff at ICMS

14 Sep 2021

As ICMS continues to grow and take on more work supporting the UK mathematical sciences community we have needed to expand and change our administrative team . We have recently welcomed four new members of staff to our team.

In July we were pleased to welcome our new IT Officer Greg McCracken. Until now we have been very ably supported in our IT needs by our colleagues at the School of Mathematics, Univeristy of Edinburgh but with the growth in our activities and more activity been run online or in a hybrid way we needed our own dedicated IT Officer. Greg joins us from the University of Edinburgh and is already busy working on upgrading our spaces to work seamlessly for hybrid events.

In August we were joined by two new conference co-ordiantors Sarah Black and Simon Kershaw.  Sarah and Simon both have exemplary events organisation credentials and we are delighted to welcome them to our team.  Sarah has a degree in Event Management and brings seven years of experience across multiple event sectors including charity, hospitality and healthcare. Simon brings a wealth of experience in event management, gained over the last 13 years working in non-profit, sports, events catering and higher education, both in Australia and the UK. He has spent the last three years living and working in Brazil and has a strong interest in making our events at ICMS accessible to everyone.

And most recently, we were joined by  Fiona Gilbert who takes up the new post of Executive Assistant.  Fiona brings with her a variety of different skills and knowledge from her previous managerial/administrative roles within the NHS, Heriot-Watt University and The University of Edinburgh.   Fiona is delighted to be joining and working with the ICMS team.

There will be some further recruitment over the next couple of months to complete the reorganisation and strengthening of our administrative team.
