About:

This talk was part of the Birational Geometry and K-stability of Fano Varieties workshop at ICMS.

This talk was a brief introduction to Algebraic Geometry, one of the oldest (and most beautiful) areas of Mathematics, living at the confluence of Geometry and Algebra. After highlighting some historical aspects and developments, we explained an important application of Algebraic Geometry to modern cryptography.
