About:
Kick-off event for the newly established Simons Collaboration on Global Categorical Symmetries https://wp.math.berkeley.edu/scgcs/, to be held on October 11-13, 2021 simultaneously at the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics (SCGP) in Stony Brook NY, and at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) in Edinburgh UK.
This will be a twinned and hybrid event due to current travel restrictions. The collaboration will organise further conferences and workshops over the next several years.
Preliminary details of the programme can be found below.
Discussions Sessions
What is quantum field theory? - led by Dan Freed and Nathan Seiberg
Non-invertible symmetries - led by Zohar Komargodski, Kantaro Ohmori, Shu-Heng Shao, and Ryan Thorngren
Symmetries and gauge theory - led by Greg Moore and Nikita Nekrasov
Lectures
Several lectures from among our PI's outlining the tools and aims of the collaboration (precise program TBD).
And finally, guest lectures by:
Davide Gaiotto
Anton Kapustin
Alexei Kitaev
Sakura Schäfer-Nameki
Xiao-Gan Wen
Schedule
The synchronous events with SCGP will take place between in the afternoon and evening, with free time in the morning for people to speak with other local attendees.
Please note that the event will commence on the morning of Monday 11 October and finish after dinner on Wednesday 13 October. These timings should be taken into account when giving accommodation dates and organising your travel.
