Academia-Industry Meetings

ICMS has funding to support academia/industry meetings. This will enable the community to identify and develop plans for activities which will support their efforts to engage with industry, develop collaboration, and develop proposals to initiatives (e.g ISCF). This funding would be appropriate for study-group type events.

There is no set format for the meetings. Online and Physical Meetings will be considered. ICMS has a wealth of experience running a range of formats (forums, multi-day meetings, study groups (physical and online), hosting and facilitating working parties) as well as providing post event support.  

Physical Meetings 

As stated, there is no set format for these meetings, but the budgetary guidelines allow for 30-40 participants for 2-3 days. Meetings should aim (where possible) for 30% industrial participation. 

Budget will cover accommodation and catering, and modest contribution towards travel costs (where possible delegates are asked to seek cover for travel costs from their home institution).  ICMS will facilitate the organisation and hosting of the meeting, making all the local arrangements and enable provision of break-out sessions/networking events as necessary.  ICMS will work with meeting organisers to support and enable the appropriate structure to enable the meeting goals.

Physical Meetings should include a 2 page proposal submitted under Q5 in the application form. 

The proposal document should not normally exceed 2 pages, and should contain the following information:

  • Title of proposed Academia/Industry Meeting or Activity
  • Names/institution of organisers 
  • Details of how the organisers' experience is relevant to the topic
  • Details of industry partners/researchers you will invite
  • The objectives, novelty and relevance of the proposed activity
  • Scientific justification for the activity. Make sure that the objectives of the activity are clear, and detail anticipated outputs form the meeting, and resources required to enable this.
  • A brief overview of your meeting structure (e.g. talks/break out sessions etc.)

Online Meetings 

Online meetings provide additional budget flexibility. ICMS has experience with a range of online tools which you can access and use to maximise networking, productivity and collaboration for your academia-industry event. The ICMS resource available to these meetings will ensure smooth running, and allow for networking throughout the event.
