INI-ICMS Joint Correspondents Network day 2019

 30 Jan 2019

ICMS, Bayes Centre, 47 Potterrow Edinburgh

About:

We were pleased to welcome the keynote speaker Professor Helen Sang from the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh. Helen Sang led the Roslin Institute's successful application for a Gold Athena SWAN award.

Following the recent death of Professor Sir Michael Atiyah we wanted to acknowledge his important contribution to mathematics in the UK. Michael Atiyah was notably the founding director of the Isaac Newton Institute and a great friend and regular visitor to both the ICMS and INI.

We invited Bernard Schroers(Heriot-Watt University) who collaborated with Atiyah for a number of years to talk about Michael Atiyah's work in mathematical physics.
