This one day workshop will bring together researchers in mathematical sciences and energy at Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh, to enable them to learn about each others’ capabilities and interests, and to develop ideas for collaborative research.
The majority of the day will be spent in small group ‘brainstorming’ sessions. There will be an opportunity for further, less formal, discussions over afternoon tea and sparkling wine at the end of the day. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
A prize of travel money will be awarded for the best research proposal by a PhD student or RA arising from the day. Watch this space for more details.
The event is part of the Bridging the Gaps initiative between Engineering and Mathematics and is funded through the Edinburgh Research Partnership.

As places are limited (maximum of 35 participants) you are urged to register as soon as possible. Please complete the registration form, available here. There is no registration fee.

Arrangements
This workshop will take place from 09.30 - 17.30 on Wednesday 27 May at The International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), 14 India Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6EZ. The workshop venue at 14 India Street is the birthplace of James Clerk Maxwell.
