Uncertainty Quantification and Computational Imaging workshop

This workshop will focus on sampling and simulation challenges arising in the field of Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) and its many synergies with the field of computational imaging. In particular, this short workshop will bring together experts from the area of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and from computational imaging in order to exchange ideas that will benefit both areas.

Arrangements

PARTICIPATION
Invited Speakers and Organisers will already have received an invitation with a personalised link to their registration form.

You are advised to register early as places will be allocated on a first come/first served basis and registration will close when the optimum number is reached. 

You are asked to arrange and pay for your own travel and accommodation. Some suggestions for accommodation are given in the "Accommodation" paragraph below.  A 20 GBP registration is payable and will be collected on arrival at ICMS. Refreshments and lunch will be provided both days of the workshop.  A limited number of places are available for a workshop dinner at a cost of 40 GBP per head.  If you are interested in attending the dinner, please indicate this on the registration form.  There will be a poster session on Monday 23 April in the afternoon.  If you wish to present your work as a poster, please indicate this on the form and give a poster title.

REGISTRATION FEE
A registration fee of 20 GBP is payable in cash.   This will be collected on arrival at ICMS.   

VENUE
The workshop will be held at ICMS, 15 South College Street, Edinburgh.

UK VISAS
If you are travelling from overseas you may require an entry visa. A European visa does not guarantee entry to the UK. Please use this link to the UK Visas site to find out if you need a visa and if so how to apply for one.

TRAVEL

Please note that it is your responsibility to have adequate travel insurance to cover medical and other emergencies (volcanic ash disruptions) that may occur on your trip.
A taxi directly from the airport will cost approximately 20.00 to 25.00 GBP to the city centre for a one-way journey.   There is also a bus service direct from the airport to the city centre which will cost 4.50 GBP single or 7.50 GBP return - the Airlink 100.  This is a frequent service (every 10 minutes during peak times) and will bring you close to Waverley Railway Station, only a short walk to the accommodation and the workshop venue.

Lothian buses charge £1.70 for a single, £4.00 for a day ticket. Please note that the exact fare is required and no change is given.
If travelling by train, please note that Edinburgh has several railway stations - Waverley Railway Station being the main station and closest to the workshop venue at 15 South College Street.  If you alight at Edinburgh Waverley, the workshop venue is an easy 10 minute walk over North and South Bridge.

POSTERS
A poster session will be held on Monday 23 April, 14.30-16.00 during which time coffee will be served.  Posters may be of any size up to and including A0, landscape or portrait.   On arrival at ICMS you will be asked to hand your poster to ICMS staff and the posters will be displayed in the Chapterhouse on the Monday afternoon.  You may leave your poster on display until the end of the workshop, but please collect it before you leave. 

WORKSHOP DINNER
A workshop dinner will take place on Monday 23 April, 19.00, at Tigerlily, 125 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4JN.  Places are limited and are not guaranteed.  Public applicants wishing to attend should indicate this on the registration form, noting that the cost is 40 GBP for attendance at the dinner.
