Abstract

Techniques based on local mesh reconstruction have been investigated which are based on a small set of operations which can be easily applied on an unstructured triangular grid and which includes node movement, edge swapping, node addition and node deletion.

An error analysis on the solution obtained on a preliminary mesh is performed and it provides a metric function which drives the mesh adaption procedure. The technique will be ppresented in some detail and numerical tests on the steady-state Euler and Navier-Stokes equations will be shown, together with recent results on transient problems involving moving boundaries.
