Abstract
The topic is motivated by the numerical analysis in phase transitions in
the material science. After a brief introduction to non-convex
minimization in the two-well problem, we consider the relaxed problem
(RP) in a scalar model situation. The finite element discretization can
be improved by adaptive mesh-refinments which are based on a posteriori
error estimates of Carstensen and Plechac. We give an overview over such
estimates an discuss further improvements. Numerical examples are
included.
