This international Workshop will take place under the auspices of the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) at the University of Edinburgh, starting on Tuesday 24 August and ending in the afternoon of Friday 3 September. Participants are expected to arrive on Monday 23 August; lectures will start the following morning.

The title of the meeting is interpreted in a broad sense and is deemed to include the classical theory of non-abelian magnetic monopoles, the impact of recent developments in string theory on monopoles, their role in 4-dimensional supersymmetric quantum field theories, and related mathematical subjects such as hyperKaehler and quaternionic geometry. Above all, the aim is to stimulate discussion between mathematicians and physicists with common interests in these areas and to open up key areas of future research.

More information about the conference is available via the links above. If you have any further queries please contact icms@maths.ed.ac.uk

The meeting is supported by EPSRC and the LMS
